Trivia: The Chikankari work was initially done on white yarn known as tanzeb. Though embroidery has evolved with time it still remains delicate, intricate and graceful. The chikan garment goes through the production process anywhere between one to six months. The fabric is cut in the desired shape, followed by pre-embroidery work to get the desired shape of the embroidery. After printing the design on the semi-stitched garment the embroidery is begun. This is followed by a quality check. The garment is washed in a bhatti, dried and finished! There are in all 36 stitching techniques involved in Chikankari.
